These fellows join the previously announced HBCU Fellows to form three Kirchner Food Fellowship cohorts for the upcoming academic year. This represents the eighth year of the program, now totaling 38 fellows from a large array of universities and backgrounds.

The Fellows will be “impact venture capitalists” for an academic year, investing real money in a real company while remaining full-time students at their respective universities.

As a pioneering program in developing venture capital allocators in food and agriculture, the program is enhancing its aim to help address the lack of diversity within the VC sector through the launch of the HBCU Cohort.

The Kirchner Food Fellowship, an initiative of the Kirchner Impact Foundation, today announced the selection of seven new Fellows across their two 2020-2021 cohorts, one based in the U.S. and one based in Mexico. This represents the seventh year of the program, now totaling 29 fellows, with the majority being female.

Students selected for the Watson Institute at Universidad Francisco Marroquín’s Career Accelerator in Guatemala City have the opportunity to express interest in The Kirchner Fellowship on their application and complete the highly regarded Kirchner Investment Academy’s intensive, 25-hour program at UFM on July 4-6th.

The program, now in its 7th year, is recognized as one of the world’s most innovative venture capital markets initiatives by seeking to take well-networked angel capital to places where there is none.
