Investment Fund

Innovative, honourably run, high-growth potential for-profit businesses have a critical role to play in accelerating attainment of global food security. Such companies usually require cash in the form of equity-like investments to launch and grow in their early years. Presently the global capital markets are failing to provide access to such capital on a reliable basis outside of a few geographic areas. The program is seeking to change that by pioneering a new and replicable model for allocating modest amounts of capital intelligently and efficiently.

The Kirchner Food Fellowship’s student led investment Fund; ‘Fund the Food’ seeks to invest in and support early-stage start-ups addressing food security issues.

The 2016-17 Kirchner Food Fellows seek to invest in a revenue-generating for-profit business that is improving agricultural productivity or correcting supply chain inefficiencies for small and medium-sized farms; ideally the firm operates in Africa and is incorporated in North America. We generally invest alongside syndicate partners and are flexible as to deal structure.
